Can festival celebrations provide the perfect cover for a personal occasion? Maybe yes, if you are a celebrity family. Aayush Sharma’s parents and close-knit family have done just that. Arpita Khan, who is yet to socially solemnise her relationship with the young lad, has had a formal ‘griha pravesh ceremony closer to Diwali at the familys Ghaziabad residence. The ritual symbolises the formal entry of a bride into a family. Our lips are zipped on what that means. But Arpita was welcomed warmly into the Sharma home rather discreetly, with just close family in attendance.
This is not the only activity the Khan bride-to-be has been up to. She observed her first official karva chauth ( a fast observed by North Indian Hindu married women for their husband's longevity) with the women from Aayushs family in Delhi last month. She also conducted the Laxmi Pooja vidhi on the day of Diwali, a ritual mostly performed by a daughter-in-law, and celebrated the festival with her new clan.
Arpita has been making frequent trips to shop for jewellery with her to-be-ma-in-law Sunita, while Manish Malhotra has burnt the midnight oil to design her wedding outfits. Aayush recently celebrated his birthday with his to-be-in-laws in Mumbai. The first slice of the cake was fed to the to-be-father-in-law, Salim Khan with Salman, Arbaaz and Sohail Khan in tow.
